
The name “Comarnic” has a close connexion with the main activity in the area, that
is shepherding. The word "comarnic" is still used nowadays to name the place where
the sheep pass to be milked, and still "comarnic" is the the place where the cheese is
kept in the sheepfold.
The beauty of the Comarnic area is given by the sightseeing elements, specific to the contact area between Carpathians ans Subcarpathians. Due to the relief, Comarnic has many hiking oportunituies on its soft hills, wrinkled by paths and small waterfalls.
The bioclimate of the area favourizes and stimulates metabolic processes, being advantaged by the abundance of the pure air and the solar radiations, the absence of strong winds and excessive humidity.
The natural environment is completed by people, places and many customs left unchanged.
What gives a personal touch to the houses in Comarnic is the abundance of wooden ornaments that adorn the porch or the tower. By means of the architecture and the decorations, the traditional houses in the area are the most representative and original touristic objective of this kind in Prahova valley.
